Pedaling for Parkinson's Disease - Parry Sound, Ontario

Day 1: How not to fix a chain

Picture
How not to fix a bike.
Halfway through Day 1's 120km Tim decided it would be a to see if his rear derailer could survive being shifted into the spokes of his rear wheel - it didn't!  Pete, Tim and I thought that we would simply remove the damaged (beyond repair) derailer, break the chain (to shorten it) and make the bike a single-speed so that Tim could finish the ride.  As you might guess after 30 minutes of work we were no closer to having a functioning bike.  Lucky for us, David Biakowski, owner of trisport of Parry Sound and a sponsor of our event came to save Tim.  Thanks on-star David.

Day 2: A feast awaits

Damn this is great watermelon - Uli.
How great is it to be able to eat as much as you want?  Given we were burning 6,400 on this ride calories in the 31 degree heat anything is fair game.  Uli tucked into the spread set out by Pete's inlaws which awaited us in Gravenhurst halfway through the 162km we clocked.
